These materials are part of an extensive series for use in Community Health Evangelism (CHE) and Neighborhood Transformation (NT) ministries. CHE facilitators skilled in participatory learning methods enable communities to escape cycles of poverty and live as followers of Jesus.
These materials are being made available for the first time to short term teams and to ministries in the developing world. They can be purchased either as an Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF by download or as printed manuals. We believe that these materials have value as teaching tools, but the material alone will not lift communities out of cycles of poverty and disease. We highly recommend that anyone using these materials take CHE training in order to get the full benefit they seek for the communities they serve.
The primary purpose for these materials is to equip CHE facilitators. Members of the CHE Network who have completed the first phase of CHE training (TOT 1) have access to the complete curriculum which includes more than 3000 lesson plans, picture books, and teaching aids. All this is available on a single DVD for a fraction of the price of purchasing the individual manuals. Also, the material will be provided to you in Microsoft© Word format so you can adapt it to your context. We have discontinued providing hard copies of items where PDF files exist. The cost of creating, shipping and handling hardcopies was beyond what we charged.  Health Education Program For Developing Countries and CHE lesson Plans: This program is used by CHEs as well as physicians and other healthcare providers, teachers, pastors and churches throughout the world. The WHO life-saving, evidence-based information enables the integration of community health and primary care, and is used at all levels of care (Hospital, clinic/health center, as well as family/community).  How to Facilitate Teach Workshop: Being able to be a good facilitator is central to seeing neighborhoods being transformed.  Learning that Leads to Action Workshop: Short-term teams will learn a participatory learning technique that helps communities to create their own solutions. This manual includes three lessons. This first lesson, How we Learn, examines how adults learn practical skills. These principles of learning are applied in the communities so that community members discover and develop their own solutions. During second lesson, Participatory LePSAS Learning Techniques, they will learn to do effective teaching that is Learner-centered, Problem-posing, with Self-discovery, and is Action-oriented and Spirit-guided. They will also present a problem-posing role play as a starter. In the final lesson, Learning to Facilitate a CHE Lesson, which lasts 2 to 3 hours, participants learn to use a lesson plan and prepare to facilitate a CHE lesson. Children's CHE Workshop: Can children be involved in community health evangelism? Absolutely! Most children are eager to get together to learn Bible stories as well as health and practical skills. In the process, they grow in their faith, become active in their communities, and pass what they have learned on to their family and friends.

Mobilizing the Church for Short Term Teams Workshop: How can the church become God’s agent of transformation in a community? Womens Cycle of Life Workshop: Women's Cycle of Life is an introduction to a much larger series of lessons that focus on the role and needs of women in all stages of their lives. These lessons train short-term teams to work alongside CHEs in a ministry with women. The manual consists of four lessons. 10 Facts on Women's Health examines some of the reasons why women often have a lower quality of life, and describes some of the health risks for women, as well as ways to reduce those risks. Helping without Hurting Workshop: These lessons are based on the book, When Helping Hurts, by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert (2009). The ideas are challenging and thought-provoking, leading to a new understanding of short-term missions. Comparing Relief and Development uses the River Crossing Story to demonstrate relief from development. Then short-term teams are challenged to apply this to their own situation—how can they promote development and not just provide relief? Risks of Relief examines the risks of outsiders providing relief, and examines ways to do this better, using more local leadership. Doing Missions without Causing Harm explains that, for people in developing nations, doing missions with outsiders may be like “dancing with an elephant”. Identifying Assets for Short Term Teams Workshop: Short-term teams often focus on the needs of their partners overseas. However, each community has resources and assets as well as needs. Assets include skills and abilities as well as physical resources. Children's Bible Storying - Old Testament: Bible storying is a powerful way to share the truths of the Bible with children and with adults. After hearing the story from the Bible, children work through discussion questions in order to understand the story and apply it to their own lives: What happened? Why? How does that relate to me? They also learn to tell the stories themselves so that they can share them with their family, friends, and neighbors. Bible storying can be adapted for children of different ages.
